Remarks by Ambassador H.E. Mr. Cihad ERGİNAY - Concert organized on the occasion of the 90th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Turkey and the Czech Republic (5 March 2014, Konzervator Jana Deyla)
Ladies and Gentleman,
It is a great honor and a privilege to welcome you all to this concert held on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkey and the Czech Republic.
I believe that this concert held in one of the most important hubs of music in Europe, namely Prague, will constitute an important opportunity to give you also a glimpse of the richness and diversity of Turkish music.
Tonight, one of the most renowned solo flutists of Turkey Maestro Hürkan Ayvazoğlu will be performing with Mr. Bledar Zajmi on the cello and Mr. Egli Prifti on the piano, two very talented musicians, to bring you a wonderfully diverse program from Bach to Dvořák to Santuri Ethem Bey and Ramadan Sokoli.
A few words on Maestro Hürkan Ayvazoğlu. His father was also a flutist. He first played with the Ankara State Opera and Ballet Orchestra, after which in 1983 he joined the Izmir State Opera and Ballet where he still performs. He has studied under famous musicians such as Prof. Hermann Klemeyer and Prof. Johan Gartner. He graduated from the Richard Strauss Academic Orchestra and was its soloist for a while. He also played with the Neu Munich Symphony Orchestra. Currently he also teaches at the September 9 University State Conservatory in Izmir.
Bledar Zajmi started winning competitions at 12 years of age. He graduated from the musical arts high school in Tirana – Albania, received a scholarship from the Academy of Music in Prague and also studied in Vienna – Austria. He plays with various chamber music groups and regularly records for Czech radio and television. He has built a rich discography with more than 15 CD’s. Since 2000 he has been the concertmaster – cello soloist at the Národní Divadlo.
Egli Prifti has won honorary diplomas in several music competitions early in his education. In 2004 began to study pianoforte at the teaching faculty of Charles University in Prague in the class of Jana Palkovská. He has been invited to concert with Czech and foreign orchestras also for his ambidextrous playing. He cooperates with orchestras such as the Czech Philharmonic and Symphonic Orchestra of the Albanian National Radio and Television. Currently he teaches piano performance and several classes at Charles University. He is also host teacher at the University of Arts in Tirana where he also performs as a soloist.
Finally, allow me to express my appreciation to Ambassador of Albania, Mr. Genc Pecani, who was the inspiration behind the idea of this concert together with Mr. Bledar Zajmi and to all others that have kindly contributed.
Thank you for being present here tonight and I hope you will enjoy this evening.
